We are currently developing and transforming Melbourne Quarter, an integrated part of Melbourne’s CBD. Melbourne Quarter brings together world class design, future workplaces, city living, dining and retail, green spaces, human scale, community facilities and new public spaces. It will be a vibrant commercial, residential and public destination including approx. 110,000sqm of commercial office space in three next generation office buildings on Collins Street, 1,600 apartments and 4,000sqm of retail.
We are looking for an experienced Development Manager with demonstrated experience in managing the full life-cycle for commercial / office developments.
In this position you will be requested to take ownership and be responsible for all aspects of the project such as the preparation of project briefs, concept designs, securing tenants, negotiation and preparation of Head of Agreements, Leasing Agreements, liaising with agents and tenants, preparation of project marketing and leasing materials. Once the project transitions into mobilisation stage you will also be required to play a critical role in the delivery phase; negotiation of the D&C Contract managing the D&C Contractor and other key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the client’s needs are met and design solutions are optimised.
Previous experience (minimum 5 years) as a development manager, with commercial office experience, coupled with a tertiary qualification in a property/ construction related field is essential.
Critical to this role is demonstrated commercial acumen which will be applied to the leasing agreements and managing the project’s commercial viability to business plan objectives, while ensuring compliance with quality, safety and sustainability standards. We require a focus on profit creation through driving efficiencies and innovation, with the strong focus on delivery of ‘best in class’ and creation of great places. This role requires a solid understanding of design that can be applied through the development life cycle.
As you will be responsible for managing and motivating multiple parties and project stakeholders concurrently, you must demonstrate strong influencing and negotiating skills. You will also have the capacity to develop and implement innovative solutions that are managed within cost and programme constraints.
Knowledge of the local commercial market is ideal, and the creation and execution of Development Briefs, Development Agreements, and negotiating contracts is core to the role. Reporting in multiple formats to internal and external stakeholders in a timely and articulate manner is also critical.
